- We always have a clean set of our Cria Cosies on hand for protecting our vulnerable newborn cria when a standard alpaca cria coat is not quite enough on it’s own so by popular demand we have decided to make these to sell at a reduced price as alpaca welfare is our top concern.
These alpaca or llama cria base layers are designed for premature, dysmature, poorly crias, and those born during cold weather, to provide an extra layer of insulation, yet with the wicking and thermoregulating properties of 100% alpaca.
To be worn underneath a standard cria coat which can be purchased here, it will stretch to fit most cria up to 9.5kg. Do make sure they are hand washed in cold water with non biological detergent between different crias so the dam accepts the cria. If acceptance is a problem just rub base layers (and coat) under the tail of cria so dam recognises the scent.
The button and loop can be used to fold back under the belly when spraying a newborn umbilical cord and for male cria so it stays dry when the cria passes urine.
