Merry Christmas from Cadbury Alpacas!
Thank you for supporting us over the past year with adopting one of our alpacas! It has been a very busy year, thanks so much for your patience awaiting information about your
updated alpacas whilst we’ve been busying ourselves with animal husbandry and alpaca experiences. In fact we are looking to take on an employee next year to help so I can actually enjoy my alpaca and human family a bit more.
We do appreciate you are adopting an alpaca to support our farm, but as a token of appreciation we would like to offer an open morning on 29 January exclusively for our adoptees. Please do contact us if you can come on that day so we won’t be overwhelmed with vehicles in our small car park and we can stagger visitors. If it works we might be able to offer another day later in the year for any of you who can’t make it.
Two people per adoption are invited to visit, please don’t bring all your lovely friends and family or pets along as sadly we just don’t have the space for lots of visitors!
This year we have seen 4 gorgeous cria (baby alpacas) Ophelia, Jupiter, Aurora and Stella make an entrance into this world with lots of remarkable vet students putting in hours of work experience on our farm during the birthing season. We also have welcomed Will a lovely work experience student who helps out on the farm every week come rain or shine and his mum Sarah!
We have been inundated with people looking for a safe outdoor memorable alpaca experience, and we have had fun making lots of wonderful things to sell online and at markets in the winter, made from their fabulous fleece.
Toby has been a generous blood donor again this year – helping Ophelia with his plasma when she was born prematurely.
Jasper has proved himself yet again as a trustworthy gentle soul especially with elderly or young visitors.
Molly has continued to eat her way through the last year and she is not very compliant with her diet, breaking fencing and hurdles to get to the food
Romeo is as cheeky as always and Blossom is a wonderful mother to Stella although her previous daughter Violet has been struggling with a little sibling rivalry this last year.
The farm is currently undergoing drainage works and some more fencing went up to better protect the herd from dogs on the adjoining public footpath.
We have also been lucky enough to receive 26 trees from the Hinckley Point tree planting scheme so although the alpacas lose a little grazing for the next 5 years whilst they establish, they will have more access to shade in the summer.
